About Bamboo Flooring Pros
Bamboo Flooring Pros is an independent reference site about one material: bamboo flooring. We cover how it’s made, what it costs, how it fails, how it compares to other floors, and how to install and care for it.
Why this site exists
Most information about bamboo flooring comes from people selling it. Product pages quote the best-case Janka rating, skip over moisture problems, and treat “bamboo” as one product, even though horizontal, vertical, and strand-woven bamboo behave very differently. This site was built to give homeowners straight answers before they spend thousands of dollars on a floor.
Who writes it
Every guide is researched and written by James Miller, the site’s editor. James isn’t a flooring contractor and doesn’t sell flooring. His job is to work through manufacturer specification sheets, installation manuals, testing standards, and warranty terms, and turn them into clear, specific answers. When the answer to a question depends on which type of bamboo you’re looking at, the guide says so.
How we put our guides together
- Specific, not general. Every guide states which bamboo construction it’s discussing: horizontal, vertical, strand-woven, or engineered.
- Numbers come from sources. Hardness ratings, emission limits, and installation requirements come from manufacturer data and published standards such as the Janka hardness test, CARB Phase 2, EPA TSCA Title VI, FloorScore, and GREENGUARD. They aren’t guesses or averages.
- Kept up to date. Prices, products, and standards change, so guides are reviewed and updated. Each article shows the date it was last updated.
- Honest about the downsides. If bamboo is the wrong choice for a room, a climate, or a budget, we say so.
Independence
We don’t sell flooring, install floors, or accept payment from manufacturers to cover their products. This site is supported by advertising served through Google AdSense. Advertisers have no influence over what we write or recommend.
